Making the Case: New York Knicks
Sometimes, a team just has to admit when a deal is not going to work out. For the New York Knicks, that time could be coming soon with Julius Randle.
This is not to say that Randle has been a complete bust. He is a solid NBA player, but not the superstar that New York was hoping for. He is going to be treated like this over the duration of his contract and it might benefit both sides to get the headache out of the way.
When looking at the return, there are pieces that can make an impact immediately. Spencer Dinwiddie can be a solid stopgap option at the point guard spot — filling a need that has been challenging for them to address in recent years.
Next season, the Knicks need to focus on seeing what they have with the lakes of Obi Toppin and Immanuel Quickley.

RJ Barrett needs to become a bit more consistent and take the steps that New York has been waiting for. If all of this is going to happen, it would make more sense for Randle to be on another team.
