Orlando Magic Receive: F Talen Horton-Tucker
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G Terrance Ross
We’re kicking it off with a relatively modest proposition. It would still improve the Los Angeles Lakers in the short term.
Talen Horton-Tucker’s underwhelming 2021-22 season didn’t grab headlines. That’s because Russell Westbrook’s overshadowed it. Still, the 21-year-old failed to take the leap that many expected from him.
Visions of Myles Turner trades once danced in the heads of Lakers fans. They’d be advised to put those thoughts aside. A wing with a career three-point percentage of 27.6% isn’t likely to fetch that kind of player.
Terrance Ross is a much more realistic target. He’d still be a solid one for the Lakers. In the event that they can’t find a suitor for Russell Westbrook, the veteran wing is a spacing upgrade over Tucker. Even if they do find a Westbrook trade, that holds true.

Meanwhile, the Magic can afford to be patient with Horton-Tucker’s development. They’re still in the early stages of a rebuild. They don’t need Ross, and the Lakers do. This deal practically makes itself.
