If you follow the NBA, chances are, you’re familiar with the name Adrian Wojnarowski. You may need to look it up to spell it, but you’ve heard it.

Generally, Woj is the first to break NBA news, and if he reports it, it’s verified. So it shocked the NBA world when he announced that the Lakers had acquired Buddy Hield, only to retract that report and announce that they’d landed Westbrook instead.

In hindsight, they should have stuck with Hield.

This trade offers them the opportunity to right that wrong. If the Lakers are stuck with Westbrook, having an elite three-point threat like Hield on the roster at least maximizes his abilities. If they’re not, they’ll still covet Hield’s accuracy from distance as much as any contender ought to.

He’s costing them. The Pacers may not even be interested at this price point. There’s no guarantee they’re interested in a rebuilding package. The Lakers should still give them a call.
