Making the Case: Portland Trail Blazers
At this point, the Portland Trail Blazers are in full rebuilding mode and should be looking for a trade to land them a return for the future. A backcourt partner for Anfernee Simons like Tyrese Maxey would go a long way in establishing a strong foundation to build around.
It was expected that with both Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum out of the equation, Portland was going to fall to the bottom of the league. When a team underachieves for years, it is time to blow it up at some point, and that time could be coming for the Blazers.
The potential return players and draft capital should be enough for Portland to get this deal done.
If Damian Lillard does not plan on requesting a trade, there’s a case to be made for the front office to ultimately decide it’s best to go in a different direction.
