Washington Wizards Receive: G Malcolm Brogdon, G T.J. McConnell
Indiana Pacers Receive: F Kyle Kuzma, G Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
The Washington Wizards are a difficult team to predict at the moment themselves. The Bradley Beal era has been underwhelming. He’s spent considerable time in the rumor mill as a result. It’s entirely possible that the team will look to deal him this summer.
Let’s assume they don’t. In that event, they’ll need to look to upgrade at point guard. As constructed, it’s a position of major weakness for this club. Meanwhile, they have a surplus of wings. This deal helps them achieve better floor balance.
Losing Caldwell-Pope stings. There’s no way around that. He’s a prototypical 3-and-D wing. Still, the Wizards land a great starting point guard here, and a great backup point guard to boot. Frankly, it’s a no-brainer.
It makes a lot of sense for the Indiana Pacers too. They’re in need of floor-spacing wings/forwards. Meanwhile, the Haliburton acquisition makes Brogdon expendable. They’ll miss McConnell, but like the Wizards, they need what they’re getting more than what they’re giving up here.

Assuming, that is, that they intend to keep Beal and compete. Otherwise, there might be another offer the Pacers could make to acquire Kuzma.
