Washington Wizards Receive: C Isaiah Jackson, G T.J. McConnell
Indiana Pacers Receive: F Kyle Kuzma
Both of these trades find the Washington Wizards receiving T.J. McConnell but under very different circumstances.
If they’re competing next season, he’ll be a great asset as a high-end backup point guard. If they’re rebuilding, here’s here to match salaries. The Wizards would be swapping Kuzma for soon-to-be sophomore Isaiah Jackson.
Jackson’s performance as a rookie in 2021-22 was impressive. He looked the part of a future defensive anchor with averages of 3.5 blocks and 1.3 steals per 75 possessions. In fact, the Indiana Pacers may be unwilling to part with him.
At the same time, this team still rosters Myles Turner. They’re likely to retain Jalen Smith through restricted free agency as well. If they intend to rebuild on the fly and stay competitive, swapping the offensively raw Jackson for Kuzma will improve them in the short term.
