Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder are still reaping the rewards of its teardown. They’ll have at least four first-round picks in the next two drafts, as well as the 34th-overall pick in this upcoming second round.
The Thunder had the chance to take Bouknight last year but decided to draft Josh Giddey instead. They probably don’t and shouldn’t regret that decision, but Bouknight certainly checks a lot of boxes for Thunder General Manager Sam Presti.
He has great size for his position, is versatile enough to play and guard multiple spots on the floor, and was a blue-chip prospect who took a little bit of a slide in the draft. He was labeled an absolute steal with the 11th-overall pick and would have still been considered a bargain at the eighth spot.
The Thunder themselves learned firsthand how much of a crapshoot the draft can be when in last year’s lottery they dropped out of a top-four spot and fell all the way to eighth.

While Giddey was a pretty good consolation prize for the Thunder, Presti can’t be happy with the fact that he could have had Cade Cunningham, Evan Mobley, Jalen Green, or Scottie Barnes instead.
Even in his limited playing time in the NBA and G-League, Bouknight has shown that he has all of the tools to be a future star. OKC should seriously consider packaging some of the Thunder’s more heavily protected draft assets and taking a shot at Bouknight.
