The San Antonio Spurs are not typically an NBA organization that makes drastic moves.
Slow and steady has been their pace for over two decades. It’s a strategy that’s yielded tremendous success, as five championships over that span will attest to. It’s also grinding to a halt.
In 2021-22, the Spurs missed the postseason for the third consecutive year. They appear to be on the dreaded “mediocrity treadmill”. They’re consistently too good to draft in the top five, and consistently too bad to truly compete.
It may be time for a change.
