Making the Case: Miami Heat
Donovan Mitchell is not the first big-name point guard to be linked to the Miami Heat. This is something that has been going on for years now and the front office might not be done adding talent in the backcourt.
Lowry got comfortable in Miami during his first year. After being acquired in a sign-and-trade deal with the Toronto Raptors, Lowry gave the Heat that next-level option at the top. The benefit of Mitchell is that he has the capability of playing off the ball.
This is not a scenario where one player would have to be favored over the other. Lowry showed that he could still play the game at the highest level, averaging 13.4 points and 7.5 assists per game. As for Mitchell, he is a scorer from all three levels and can bring another dynamic to the offense.
When looking at Miami, they are led by one of the best coaches in the league in Erik Spoelstra. They have star power with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, along with Lowry. This is a team that is ready to win now and can prove it once again by making a move such as this.
