New York Knicks
Kyrie Irving’s rush hour handles feel like a perfect match for New York City. If the Knicks were to broker a trade for him, all he’d have to do is move boroughs.
They do need a point guard. That’s not saying much: the Knicks need a little bit of everything. Many would argue that they should focus their attention on the draft. There may be merit in this position, but trading for Irving feels like an on-brand move for this organization.
For a long time, it’s felt like the Knicks just needed to land one star to land several. The temptation to bring this long-beleaguered franchise back to relevancy would have to be a factor for some of the league’s stars. If the Knicks can land one this offseason via trade, it may attract more.
Granted, Irving’s reputation for playing with others is not pristine. Still, he’d make the Knicks an instantly better product. Winning games in Madison Square Garden might outweigh the cost of trying to coexist with Irving.
