Carmelo Anthony
One of these things is not like the other.
At his advanced age, Carmelo Anthony will not command the same kind of money that the other free agents listed here will. He’s still a quality NBA player. In 2021-22, Anthony shot 37.5% from long range. He also made strides on the defensive end of the ball. He’s become the type of solid rotational veteran contending teams need.
The Lakers may fancy themselves contenders again next season, but Melo could be forgiven if they left a taste in his mouth that’s too sour to forget. The situation with the Lakers is too volatile to predict stability.
If Melo is bound for a new home, it’s hard to predict where it may be. Surely, he’ll find his way to a competitive team. At the same time, he may prefer a roster that affords him some semblance of a role in the offense.

They may be able to strike the best balance of any team in terms of offering Anthony a real role on a team that intends on being competitive.
