San Antonio Spurs
We’ve covered Caris LeVert’s flaws at great length in this piece. If anyone can coach them out of him, it’s Gregg Popovich.
This would be an unconventional move for the Spurs. They’re probably closer to rebuilding than they are to competing. Landing a 27-year-old of LeVert’s caliber may not be the best available decision for this franchise.
On the other hand, the Spurs do not appear to be interested in a rebuild. They may see untapped potential in LeVert. It’s worth noting that they rostered a similarly talented-but-inefficient scorer in DeMar DeRozan up until recently.
The Spurs helped revolutionize his game. Now a Chicago Bull, DeRozan found himself in MVP conversations for the first time at the age of 32. LeVert probably doesn’t have the natural talent to make the same developmental jump, but his skill set is similar.

The Spurs may deem it worth exploring. If they can encourage similar development for LeVert’s game, they’ll be glad that they did.
