Indiana Pacers Receive: G Gary Trent Jr.
Toronto Raptors Receive: C Myles Turner
We are far from the first publication to link Myles Turner to the Toronto Raptors. It’s almost as if it makes sense.
After all, the Raptors don’t have a 7-footer on their roster. That’s partly by design. This Raptors team has opted to double-down on large, versatile, playmaking wings. It’s an exciting, forward-thinking (no pun intended) strategy. It doesn’t necessarily inoculate them from needing a big man.
Myles Turner could be the perfect one for them. A career 34.9% three-point shooter, he allows the team to maintain five-out spacing while adding his outstanding rim protection.
On the subject of spacing: it really hurts to lose Trent Jr. here. In fact, it hurts so much that the Raptors may refuse. He’s averaging 18.3 points per game while shooting 38.3% from distance.

He’s also stealing the ball 1.7 times per contest. If the Raptors deem his contributions too valuable to part with in exchange for Turner, that would be understandable.
They may need to find a less valuable big man at a smaller cost.
