Why the LA Clippers Must Target Malcolm Brogdon
Malcolm Brogdon may not be the textbook definition of a conventional point guard. That player is hard to come by in today’s NBA. He still brings plenty of the qualities one expects to get at the position.
The 5.9 assists per game he averaged this season may not remind your father of John Stockton. That’s still a solid mark, especially when it’s attached to a mere 2.0 turnovers per game.
Factoring that Brogdon is equally adept at calling his own number (19.0 points per game in 2021-22), we’re talking about a high-end lead ball-handler.
Still, Brogdon flashed even more potential as a floor general over the 2019-20 season. That year, he averaged 7.1 assists to only 2.4 turnovers. Brogdon is one of the NBA’s most versatile guards: if the LA Clippers bring him on to be a point guard, look for him to approach his 2019-20 output.

That versatility should suit the Clippers well. Realistically, Brogdon could share the backcourt with incumbent starter Reggie Jackson. However, he also allows the Clippers to move Jackson to the second unit as a microwave scorer.
No matter what formation they choose, Brogdon’s presence on this team would undoubtedly be a welcomed one.

The Clippers are armed to the teeth with moveable contracts. If the Pacers make Brogdon available, they should package whatever they can with draft picks to pry him from their hands.
