Malcolm Brogdon is the Perfect Trade Target for LA Clippers
The Indiana Pacers formally triggered their rebuild at this year’s deadline. They shipped All-Star big man Domantas Sabonis to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for promising young combo guard Tyrese Haliburton.
With Haliburton thriving in his new digs, Malcolm Brogdon may be expendable. Both men are combo guards who are capable of creating shots for either themselves or others. This Pacers front office may feel that keeping Brogdon could be a blessing to Haliburton’s development. Alternatively, they may want him out of the younger guard’s way.
At 29, Brogdon doesn’t fit the timeline of a rebuild. The Pacers could flip him for some combination of young players and draft picks. It could end up being a decision that pays dividends in the future.
Meanwhile, one wonders whether Brogdon himself would prefer a change of scenery. His career arc has been unique. He entered the league as a second-round pick at the ripe old age of 24. He shocked the world by winning Rookie of the Year.

Before he knew it, the Bucks were choosing to pay Eric Bledsoe over him, and he found himself on the middling Pacers.
If he wanted a change of scenery, he couldn’t be blamed. Brogdon could make for a superb starting point guard on a championship hopeful. The LAClippers should pursue him at all costs.
