Indiana Pacers Receive: G Spencer Dinwiddie, F Davis Bertans, F Josh Green, 2027 First-Round Pick
Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Malcolm Brogdon
Remember the entire preamble from the last trade about bad-yet-moveable contracts?
It applies here as well. In fact, this is a strikingly similar package for the Indiana Pacers. They’re again receiving an interesting young player and a first-round pick for Brogdon.
The differences are that the interesting young player is even younger, and hence, still on his rookie contract. Due to that, the Pacers are forced to take on two veteran contracts.
This package from the Dallas Mavericks is still a good deal for the Pacers. They’re light on young 3-and-D wings. Green fits the description perfectly. He fits snuggly with this team’s exciting young core. They’re still mostly in this for the draft capital: adding a first-round pick for a 29-year-old is optimal for any rebuilding squad.

As for the Dallas Mavericks, they’re receiving, by far, the best backcourt mate they’ve given Doncic during his tenure with the team to date. Brogdon is a stout point-of-attack defender who can make up for Doncic’s deficiencies on that end.
He’s also an aggressive off-ball mover. He can lessen Luka’s offensive load as a secondary ball-handler while complimenting him as he’s creating his Luka magic.

With the Dallas Mavericks, Luka Doncic and Malcolm Brogdon would instantly make for one of the best backcourt pairings in the league. If the Indiana Pacers make Brogdon available, Mark Cuban needs to call them without delay.
