Los Angeles Lakers Receive: F Miles Bridges, F/C PJ Washington, F Gordon Hayward, 2022 First-Round Pick (NOP)
Charlotte Hornets Receive: C/F Anthony Davis, G Kendrick Nunn
This deal involves a lot of moving pieces. Miles Bridges, PJ Washington, and Kendrick Nunn are due for new contracts this season. They’d all have to agree to sign-and-trades to make this deal possible. Even supposing they did, this trade is fraught with downside for both parties.
Parting with Bridges particularly stings for the Hornets. Bridges’ 24-y run-and-jump athlete is a perfect complement to the uptempo style the Hornets prefer to play with LaMelo Ball at the helm.
Besides, The 24-year-old is authoring a breakout season that will warrant Most Improved Player considerations. Also, breaking up a duo with the nickname AirBnB feels unethical.
However, that’s the cost of doing business in the NBA. The Hornets need a center, and if Davis can regain his footing, he could push this group into a different stratosphere.

The real question is whether this works for the Lakers. It would significantly add to their wing depth. With this deal, they may even opt to retain Russell Westbrook: with the addition of a stretch 5, they’d undoubtedly have a roster that caters more closely to his strengths.
On the other hand, if the Lakers brass feels as though this deal doesn’t move the needle, the Hornets may have to part with more draft capital.
