LeBron James
The future of LeBron James with the Los Angeles Lakers could very well be determined this offseason. James is eligible for a contract extension, and how those discussions go will be very telling about his future outlook.
A trade will not occur this offseason. James has to remain on the roster if they want any chance of competing next season.
But, he has left the door open about a return to the Cleveland Cavaliers for a third stint, which could occur as early as 2023 if an extension isn’t worked out. That remains a real possibility, and something the Lakers will have to navigate should an extension not be reached.
But, the organization will be put at ease as the two sides will agree to an extension this offseason. James doesn’t want to leave Los Angeles and will commit long-term, providing some much-needed stability.
