Utah Jazz Receive: G Tyler Herro, G Duncan Robinson, F/C Omer Yurtseven, 2023 First-Round Pick
Miami Heat receive: Donovan Mitchell
It’s hard to imagine a world where the Utah Jazz trade Donovan Mitchell to the Miami Heat without receiving both Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson. The former is the best trade chip the Heat have, and the latter is required to make the money work.
In this deal, the Jazz would be trading Mitchell in for a (slightly) younger model. Herro has been distinctly less valuable than Mitchell in 2021-22. He trails him in Value Over Replacement Player (VORP) by a significant margin, a 1.4 vs Mitchell’s 3.6. The gap in Win Shares (WS) is similarly large (7.1 vs 3.7).
Herro is also 3 years younger at 22. He’s averaging 20.8 points per game with a 56.1 True Shooting % (TS%). He is absolutely the type of player you take when you’re forced to trade your franchise player. When you can plug him into the same role, that’s a bonus.
He’s also not the only real asset the Jazz acquire in this deal. Besides the pick, Omer Yurtseven has had a surprisingly effective rookie season. He’s averaging 16.3 points and 15.9 rebounds per 75 possessions this season. He looks the part of a high IQ, high-energy big man any team can use.

That could be of great value to the Utah Jazz. If they’re forced to move Mitchell, Rudy Gobert may not be far behind.
