Will Julius Randle be traded?
Isn’t it amazing how a contract changes the perception of a player?
Of course, it is fair in a way. If you are making the most money on a team, the organization and its fans will expect more. The New York Knicks are a perfect example of this with Barrett and Julius Randle.
Last offseason, Randle agreed to a four-year, $117 million extension to remain in New York. Now, he has quickly been thrown around in trade rumors because of a poor season. When looking at the numbers, they are comparable to those of Barrett.
Both Julius Randle and RJ Barrett are averaging 20.1 points per game. Randle has played in four more games and is on the court about one minute longer per night.

Randle’s three-point percentage has taken a big hit at 30.8% while Barrett is shooting 34.6% from deep. Overall, both are around 41% from the field.
This is not to say that Julius Randle should be considered the future over Barrett. It is just interesting to see. Anyway, Randle has come up in trade talks recently but it is unknown if he truly wants out. When Randle signed his extension, he claimed that he wanted to be in New York until he retired. Some issues on and off the court have tainted that claim.

The future of Julius Randle will be one that remains in the spotlight as the offseason approaches. If Randle is truly on the trading block, the New York Knicks will have to find the right partner to get a deal done.
