Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?
In a similar situation to the New York Knicks, the Indiana Pacers are looking to take steps forward as a franchise rather than backwards and have to rebuild.
Having talented players in Tyrese Haliburton, Malcolm Brogdon, Buddy Hield, Myles Turner and others, there is definitely potential for growth from this season for the Pacers heading into the offseason, but nobody really knows what to expect from them as a franchise at this point since they are at a crossroads between a “rebuild” and a “re-tool”.
Trading Brogdon in the offseason makes sense if they can get a fair return, as does trading Hield, Turner and anyone else other than Haliburton.
Bringing in Julius Randle would not be a bad idea for the Pacers to do, as he would fill the “triple-double-like” hole Domantas Sabonis left behind at the power-forward position, but the Pacers also do not really have a need for someone like Randle.

Tyrese Haliburton is the young leader of this team right now and should they keep Malcolm Brogdon around, he too will be one of the leading voices for this team.
Julius Randle’s fit would be highly questionable in Indiana, especially since he is such a ball-dominant player that tends to initiate everything offensively for the Knicks.

There will be plenty of other teams willing to give the Pacers draft picks and young talents for Myles Turner and/or Buddy Hield in the offseason, which is why this trade with the Knicks likely is not the best the Indiana Pacers can do in terms of fit. Talent-wise though, this is definitely a trade that could pay off for them since they would be adding an All-Star-level frontcourt player to their roster.
