Does this trade make sense for the Houston Rockets?
Trading Eric Gordon for youth or a draft pick makes sense for the Houston Rockets, as does trading Christian Wood in the offseason.
His long-term future in this league does not appear to be in Houston and with them rebuilding, trading Wood for some young talents in Melton and Clarke makes a ton of sense.
There really is nothing not to like about this trade for the Rockets other than bringing in Steven Adams and the $17.9 million he is owed, but Adams is going to be in the final year of his contract.
Set to become a free agent following the 2022-23 season, the Houston Rockets would free up the money from Steven Adams’ contract next offseason and as a result of taking on his salary, they would have a future 2024 first-round pick with some protections on it.

The Memphis Grizzlies have some of the better, younger players in the league, especially in their second-unit, which is why Houston could help themselves by making a deal like this with them.
