What’s Tom Thibodeau’s Outlook With New York Knicks?
Lack of consistency and injuries have whittled down the New York Knicks’ rotations throughout the year, and the overall improvements the rest of the Eastern Conference made this season have resulted in the Knicks standing idle and falling down the standings.
While Thibodeau’s job may appear to be safe for the moment, there are going to be some significant changes to the New York Knicks as an organization in the offseason.
Kemba Walker’s fit in New York did not work out the way the front office had hoped, making him a player the Knicks will look to move on from in the offseason and there are also question marks surrounding the future of All-Star forward Julius Randle and his long-term future with the franchise.
Randle and the Knicks agreed to a four-year, $117 million extension back in August before the start of this season and while he will most likely remain in a Knicks uniform through the offseason, his long-term status as the cornerstone of the franchise is questionable.

“While the season has definitely been a disappointment for Leon Rose, Scott Perry, and that Knicks’ front office, they know they have moveable contracts to play around with in the offseason and it should not come as a shock to see that front office once more take a swing an a current or former All-Star either in free agency or on the trade block,” one league source commented to NBA Analysis Network. “Thibodeau and the front office have a good relationship with one another and they will work together in the offseason to correct what went wrong over the course of the season.”
Ending a seven-year playoff drought last season, the Knicks and Tom Thibodeau found a lot of success during the 2020-21 season that they will look to dig up in the pending offseason.
