The Washington Wizards’ best chance at proving to Bradley Beal that they can build a winner is if the team succeeded down the stretch with him sidelined. It was announced that Beal would miss the remainder of the season because of a wrist injury right before the NBA trade deadline.
Without Beal, it was always going to be a tough hill to climb to the postseason. They will likely fall short of a playoff berth as they are 4.5 games behind the 10th place Atlanta Hawks for the final spot in the NBA Play-In Tournament.
Despite the team falling short of the postseason, a lot of recent comments by Beal could be taken positively about his future plans. For example, he spoke highly of bringing Kristaps Porzingis to the team via trade.
Kristaps Porzingis and Bradley Beal could form a dynamic scoring duo with a third strong option in Kyle Kuzma. There have also been reports that Beal is leaning toward re-signing with the Washington Wizards this offseason, which is certainly encouraging.

Washington was also provided the game plan on what could appease Beal further when it comes to roster construction by Beal himself. Beal recently appeared on Post Game Live following the Wizards’ loss to the Houston Rockets.
During the appearance, he discussed what he felt the team needs going forward. Beal believes that the team needs more big guards, guys who can get into the paint.
You can be sure that the front office heard that loud and clear. They seemingly had that in Spencer Dinwiddie, but he was traded as part of the package to acquire Kristaps Porzingis. So, they will have to go back to the drawing board this offseason to find someone that fits the description of Bradley Beal’s comments.

A point guard, in general, should be near the top of their to-do list as well. Raul Neto is a free agent this summer and Ish Smith’s contract is non-guaranteed, so the team could opt to waive him to open up a little more cap space. Tomas Satoransky is also hitting free agency after signing with the Washington Wizards following a buyout earlier this season.
