Zach LaVine – Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls are going to make the playoffs for the first time since 2017 this season and while a lot of credit has to be given to the play of DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine has been just as important to the Bulls’ success.
Averaging 24.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and shooting 48% from the floor, 39.9% from three-point range, LaVine has continued to prove that he is one of the best offensive weapons in the league.
Not only has he flown under-the-radar this season from a statistical perspective, but Zach LaVine’s knee continues to be an issue nobody is addressing, as is his pending free agency.
Zach LaVine has missed some time on and off this season due to “discomfort” in his left knee, as Bulls’ head coach Billy Donovan has described it. It is worth noting that this is the same knee that LaVine has ACL surgery on in 2017.

In the middle of the season, LaVine did go to see a knee specialist and while the specialist and team doctors do not seem too concerned with this injury, Zach LaVine has been bothered throughout the season by it.
It seems like not all the details of what is actually wrong with his knee have been released and the Bulls are keeping this situation under lock and key. Maybe this is nothing to be worried about, which is why nothing more has been said about it, but it is possible that Zach LaVine has some internal structural damage in his knee that may need to be addressed surgically in the offseason.

Again, this is all speculation at this point given the limited info that has been released about his knee, but this nagging injury is a big question mark for LaVine and the Bulls entering an offseason in which the All-Star shooting guard will be a free agent!
Set to become an unrestricted free agent following the end of the season, Zach LaVine is going to be one of the best talents available for teams to pursue once free agency begins.
When asked about his pending free agency, Zach LaVine has shot down all speculation about what the future holds for him, stating that he is focused on the Bulls’ current postseason run, but LaVine did mention about a month ago that he should be getting “what he deserves” in his next contract.

Between his knee issue and his pending free agency, Zach LaVine is one of the least talked about All-Stars in the NBA that could wind up being a key topic of discussion when the offseason begins.
