Trail Blazers Showing Continued Interest In Jerami Grant
At the trade deadline this season, Pistons’ forward Jerami Grant was the most talked about player across the entire NBA. Since joining Detroit, Grant has emerged as a serious two-way threat, and having the ability to play either the small-forward or power-forward positions, Jerami Grant is viewed as the “key to success” for many playoff-contending teams.
The Pistons received tons of offers for Grant at the trade deadline, but GM Troy Weaver and Detroit’s front-office decided to hold onto the 28-year-old forward.
With the Pistons eliminated from postseason contention, the offseason for them will begin the final day of the regular season, meaning that Jerami Grant will soon be in the final year of his contract with the Pistons.
Interest in Grant is expected to once again be relevant in the NBA offseason and plenty of playoff hopeful and championship-contending teams will once again reach out to the Pistons in attempts to trade for Jerami Grant.

Having just one year left on his contract, Detroit could be more inclined to trade their star forward ahead of the 2022 NBA Draft in return for more young talent and draft picks to play around with next to Saddiq Bey and Cade Cunningham.
Should the Pistons pursue trade opportunities involving Jerami Grant, the Portland Trail Blazers are expected to be highly interested in him and they have been showing interest in him all season long.
Months ahead of the trade deadline, around the time that CJ McCollum was dealing with a collapsed lung, the Trail Blazers reached out to the Pistons about a possible Jerami Grant, a source told NBA Analysis Network.

“Portland’s interest in Jerami Grant has always been high,” a league source told NBA Analysis Network. “It should not be shocking to see them pursue him again in the offseason, especially that they are looking to do everything they can to avoid having Damian Lillard request a trade.”
Similar to Bradley Beal’s situation with the Wizards, Damian Lillard has remained loyal to the Portland Trail Blazers but also has high expectations for winning with the Trail Blazers.
Trading CJ McCollum, Norman Powell, and Robert Covington at the trade deadline definitely did not send a “winning message” to Lillard per se, but all of these moves have set them up to take the franchise in a new direction, one that is let by Damian Lillard with other high-level, playoff-contending talents.

Having a handful of young assets, as well as draft compensation, Portland could put together a reasonable offer for Jerami Grant in the offseason, one that could potentially form a core of Lillard, Simons, and Grant on the Trail Blazers’ roster.
