The Detroit Pistons have officially been eliminated from playoff contention this season, even though we kind of knew this entering the 2021-22 NBA season. 

Drafting Cade Cunningham No. 1 overall in the 2021 NBA Draft and continuing to build with their young talents, the Pistons are rebuilding and GM Troy Weaver has done a good job assembling future pieces on his roster. 

However, one big question remains for the Pistons revolving around Jerami Grant as they get ready to conclude the season and heading into the offseason. 

Jerami Grant and the Pistons agreed to a three-year, $60 million deal ahead of the 2020-21 season and since then, Grant has emerged as a key two-way combo-forward in this league.

Since joining the Pistons, Jerami Grant has averaged 20.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and has shot 42.5% from the floor, making him a key trade target around the NBA for numerous playoff contenders. 

While the Pistons did explore trade opportunities involving Grant at the trade deadline this season, they ultimately held onto him, meaning that he will be entering the final year of his contract in the offseason.

Teams will once again be inquiring about Jerami Grant’s availability in the offseason and many are expecting the Washington Wizards to amp up their efforts to pursue the Pistons’ forward.
