Sacramento Kings Receive: C Dwight Powell, DAL 2027 2nd Round Pick (Top-45 Protected)
Dallas Mavericks Receive: C Richaun Holmes

Richaun Holmes is owed $36.1 million through the 2024-25 season, including $11.2 million in total next season, making him a very affordable trade asset around the league.

Not many teams are looking for a new center though, which gives the Dallas Mavericks a little less competition in regards to negotiations for Holmes should they target the Sacramento Kings center.

On the other side of things, the Kings may be pressed to move Richaun Holmes any way they can, which could lead to the Mavericks getting a good deal for him.

Dallas has a little bit of a cap/financial problem right now, as they are projected to be close to $30 million over the salary cap entering the offseason, and figuring out ways to get below the luxury tax line may be impossible.

The Mavericks know that they need to get Doncic some more help in order for them to be a true title contender, which is why the team will not only be looking to move some bigger contracts in the offseason but looking to add reliable talents at any position they can.

Fixing the problems in their frontcourt is something the Mavericks have been looking to do for some time now, as they really have not had consistent play at the center position in years.

Richaun Holmes has had his fair share of problems this season, but they are mainly due to a lack of consistency in the Kings’ starting line and the fact that he is not a focal point for them anymore.

Being able to convert on second-chance opportunities, as well as being one of the better finishers around the rim in the league, Richaun Holmes would be an upgrade from Dwight Powell for the Dallas Mavericks and his contract moving forward is very fair and affordable.

Taking back Dwight Powell may not be something the Kings show a ton of interest in doing, but Powell is going to be entering the final year of his contract and would open up long-term cap space for Sacramento to play around with.

If the Dallas Mavericks do want to target a center in the offseason, Richaun Holmes is probably one of their better options.
