Los Angeles Clippers Receive: G John Wall
Houston Rockets Receive: F Marcus Morris Sr., G Reggie Jackson, G/F Norman Powell
In order for the LA Clippers, a tax-paying team right now, to have a shot at acquiring a player on a $47 million contract, they will need to be willing to cut out a ton of salaries from their roster.
Marcus Morris Sr. seems like an easy choice since he is owed $33.4 million through the 2023-24 season, but the other pieces to include in this trade could really put a dent in what the Clippers have built through the years.
Norman Powell was just acquired at the trade deadline this season and Reggie Jackson has been a key secondary offensive talent next to Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. The Clippers do not want to get rid of either player, but they may very well have to in order to make the money line up for Wall’s contract.
Houston has shown a willingness to trade John Wall and discuss deals with other teams, as they did hold deep discussions with the Lakers at the trade deadline in a deal that included Russell Westbrook.

The Rockets declined the Lakers’ offer, as they wanted a first-round pick, but this trade with the LA Clippers could have what Houston is looking for.
They would be receiving some veteran players that do not really help their rebuild process, yet all three players could really help Houston take the next step as a young team.
Reggie Jackson would be a key backcourt addition that can aid in the development of Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green and both Marcus Morris Sr. and Norman Powell would be two offensive weapons on the wing.
The problem in this deal for Houston though is the fact that they do not want to be taking back a ton of salaries in a deal involving John Wall.

Since the veteran is on an expiring contract, Houston will be able to open up a ton of cap space for 2023 free agency, which is why this deal may not be the best thing for the Rockets in the grand scheme of things since Powell and Morris Sr. are under contract past this season.
