Does this trade make sense for the Houston Rockets?

Heading into the offseason, the Rockets and GM Rafael Stone will be continuing to search for ways to better their franchise’s outlook, as they are still in the midst of a rebuild.

Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green seem to be the two leaders in the backcourt for this team and Christian Wood is still a part of this team for now, but the status of John Wall is definitely a key topic of discussion.

Trading Wall could be very beneficial to the Rockets, especially if they can get a fair return for him. The same can be said about Eric Gordon, yet this trade does absolutely nothing to help Hosuton moving forward.

Not only would they be tied down to Russell Westbrook and dead cap space should they decide to buy him out of his contract, but trading Eric Gordon for Talen Horton-Tucker is a downgrade in terms of total talent.

Gordon has proven to be effective this season and while Horton-Tucker is younger and has more potential, he has had his fair share of struggles in Los Angeles.

Not to mention, the Rockets want a future first-round pick that will convey to them, not a protected first-round pick 6-7 years down the road!

Houston gets absolutely nothing from this trade that helps them with their rebuilding process right now, which is why there is no reason for them to rush into making a deal like this.
