Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?
While exploring trade opportunities involving Buddy Hield could be a smart move for the Indiana Pacers to make, by no means should they be interested in trading for Al Horford.
In doing so, the Pacers would essentially be giving up on the 2022-23 season before it even starts since Horford’s contract would eat up all of their available cash funds.
Indiana has nothing to gain from trading for Al Horford, they have no need for a 2023 2nd round pick, even if it is projected to be between 31-40 as of right now, and Buddy Hield has played great in Indiana since being traded at the trade deadline.
His contract may be something the Pacers would look to move next season, but they should be more than content to keep him on their roster through the offseason.

If Indiana is going to look to trade Buddy Hield, it will not be until the 2023 NBA Trade Deadline at the very least, simply because he has been a key factor for them offensively over the last month.
The Pacers likely will not be a playoff team next season, but with Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield, Chris Duarte and others, they will definitely be a competitive team under Rick Carlisle.
