One Of League’s Top Defensive Teams Gets A Former All-Defensive Star

After sitting out a while due to injuries, it can take a while for some players to come back and find their groove offensively. Klay Thompson with the Warriors has been back on the court since early January and he is still trying to find his shot offensively!

Victor Oladipo looked confident on offense, which was good to see, but the most important area of the floor for him and the Miami Heat is defensively. The Miami Heat rank 6th in the league in defensive rating this season and they are suffocating defensively, which is why it was eye-opening to see Oladipo active on the defensive end of the thing Monday night.

The Heat are one of the best teams in the league in terms of drawing charges and after months of rehabbing, Oladipo stepped in and took a charge against the Rockets within his first couple of minutes of action.

Staying attached to his opponents on the defensive end of the floor and moving his feet well was very reassuring for the Heat to see, especially in terms of Oladipo being able to switch his defensive assignments with ease.

Victor Oladipo is a former All-Defensive player and led the league in steals during the 2017-18 season. Playing defensive is second nature to him and it did not seem like he lost a step in this department in his season debut.

The Heat have been one of the best two-way teams all year long and Victor Oladipo was always one of the better two-way players in the league when he was healthy. He may not be able to make the same impact he once did, but Oladipo’s performance on Monday night on both ends of the court is definitely something for Heat fans to be excited about.
