The Mavericks’ Offense Is Luka Doncic

Looking around the league, many of the league’s top offense teams have a lot of balance. Very few players are responsible for a vast majority of their team’s scoring, but this is exactly the case with Luka Doncic.

The Mavericks are a very average offensive team this year, as they rank 17th in offensive rating, but they are amongst the worst offensive teams in the league when Doncic is not on the floor.

Since the trade deadline on February 10, Luka Doncic has scored or assisted on 151 of the Mavericks’ 318 made shots, equating to him being responsible for 47.5% of the team’s made shots and this is not factoring in free-throws either!

In terms of total scoring output, Luka Doncic has scored 32.5% of the Mavericks’ total points since the trade deadline. This may not seem like a lot at first, but Doncic is responsible for about a third of the team’s total scoring output over the last several games, making him fully responsible for this team’s offense.

The scoring run he has been on as of late truly is remarkable and he is solely responsible for the Mavericks winning 9 of their last 11 games.

Defensively, the Mavericks are a strong team, but without the production, they have received on offense from Luka Doncic this season, they would not even be close to where they are record-wise right now.

Spencer Dinwiddie, Jalen Brunson, and Dorian Finney-Smith have stepped up offensively in recent weeks, but Doncic is the Mavericks’ offense and he has his hands on every single basket that goes in for Dallas.
