Trade Danilo Gallinari, Bogdan Bogdanovic To Clear Cap Space
In terms of being able to make a big move, the Atlanta Hawks’ main way to free up cap space is to trade Danilo Gallinari and/or Bogdan Bogdanovic.
Combined, these two are set to make close to $40 million next season and with Gallinari being 33-years-old, he is the most likely of the two to potentially be on the move.
Finding a trade partner though is going to be extremely difficult for the Atlanta Hawks in the offseason. Danilo Gallinari will be on an expiring contract, making him a little more likely to be moved, but very few teams are going to want to take on his $21.4 million contract without major compensation coming their way.
The Hawks have run into a big financial problem this season and heading into the offseason, which is why they have to try and find ways to free up cap space before they can make a significant addition to their roster.

Maybe they will not be able to add a big name in free agency should they be able to free up cap space, but getting out of the contracts of Bogdanovic and Gallinari are “musts” for the Atlanta Hawks during the 2022-23 season, especially if they want to achieve long-term success with Trae Young.
