Malcolm Brogdon – Indiana Pacers

Myles Turner, Caris LeVert and Domantas Sabonis had been three key names on the trade block all season long for the Indiana Pacers and the team ultimately decided to move on from both LeVert and Sabonis, adding a handful of future value in the process at the trade deadline this season.

Trading Myles Turner in the offseason is still a possibility for this team, as is potentially trading Malcolm Brogdon. Indiana and Brogdon recently agreed to a two-year, $45 million extension this season, keeping him under contract through the 2024-25 season, but they may not have a long-term need for him anymore with newly acquired Tyrese Haliburton cementing himself as the face of the franchise.

The idea of trading Malcolm Brogdon has been apparent since this season’s trade deadline and HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto wrote before the deadline that “rival executives around the league believe the Indiana Pacers will trade Malcolm Brogdon this offseason. …”

The Pacers have made their intentions to “re-tool” instead of “rebuild” very clear, but this does not mean that Malcolm Brogdon is off-the-table in trade discussions around the league.

LATEST NBA NEWS & RUMORS: 3 Stars The New York Knicks Must Target Moving Forward

Tom Thibodeau made the Knicks a force defensively last season and they have lost their touch on defense this year. Not only do they need more offensive talent, but they need to sure things up on defense as well, which is why Malcolm Brogdon could be the perfect trade target for them.

Brogdon has always been known to be a hard-noes defender on the perimeter and since the start of last season, he has averaged 20.3 points while shooting 36.5% from three-point range.

Being able to lead an offense, as well as pull his weight defensively, Malcolm Brogdon could fit in nicely next to Julius Randle and R.J. Barrett in New York.

LATEST NBA NEWS & RUMORS: 3 Stars The New York Knicks Must Target Moving Forward

The Knicks have the cap space to be able to absorb Malcolm Brogdon’s contract and since the Pacers are wanting “win-now pieces”, New York could possibly leverage Kemba Walker and Alec Burks in trade talks this offseason for Brogdon.

This seems like the best fit or the Knicks heading into the offseason based on players that will be available to them.
