Would this trade make sense for the Los Angeles Lakers?
There is a clear need for change for the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron James having to shoulder such a heavy load has taken a real toll on him—requiring a shuffle in the personnel.
Russell Westbrook has struggled to fit in with LeBron James at times and having to get to the rim at the beginning of the season with two non-shooting threats in the frontcourt certainly did not help. However, he’s struggled even with the floor being more opened up.
There are valid concerns with the limitations that Walker faces at this stage of his career. However, he is an efficient catch-and-shoot threat and a shot creator that Westbrook simply is not. That contrast in style could perhaps be what the Lakers need next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
In speaking of LeBron James, he can play any position at this point, so if Walker doesn’t quite have enough left in the tank, James can serve as the point guard. Adding combo guards like Evan Fournier and Alec Burks in the supporting cast would present more lineup combinations in such a situation.

Favoring the addition of catch-and-shoot threats instead of a lane penetrator would be a logical option for the Lakers even though it would not present another high-usage initiator to shoulder the load.
