1. John Wall Changes Course
The Houston Rockets ended up not being very active ahead of the 2022 NBA trade deadline. They were engaged in talks centered around Christian Wood and Eric Gordon, but nothing came to fruition.
The only deal that they made was sending Daniel Theis back to the Boston Celtics, getting Dennis Schroder, Bruno Fernando, and Enes Freedom in exchange. Freedom was already waived, and many are expecting Schroder to be bought out as well.
However, unlike some of the other veterans traded at the deadline, Schroder already suited up for the Rockets. There seems to be a chance they hold onto him and he is part of the rotation going forward. The same cannot be said about John Wall, who remains sidelined despite being healthy enough to play.
The organization and Wall agreed that he wouldn’t play for them this season as they looked to find him a new team to play with. They couldn’t find a trade partner and a buyout seemed unlikely. However, Wall will change course and look for a buyout.

Sitting out an entire season won’t help Wall improve his stock for when he hits free agency. He needs to play and show that he can still produce and help a team win some games. The only way to do that is by getting on the court, something that won’t happen in Houston.
Wall will work on a buyout with the Rockets and sign with a team that he can play with right away.

It will help him land a deal this offseason after he shows he is healthy and capable of helping a team win some games whether it is as the starting point guard or off the bench.
