Derrick Favors
Derrick Favors was one name mentioned continuously leading up to the NBA Trade Deadline. Everyone knows that the Oklahoma City Thunder are willing to talk trades, especially if they are getting draft compensation back. However, they were relatively quiet ahead of the deadline.
The only deal they made was sending out a draft pick to bring KZ Okpala to the team. They didn’t trade Favors of Kenrich Williams, two very popular names on the rumor mill. While Williams will remain with the team for the duration of the season, Favoris could be bought out.
The sticking point is that he has a player option for the 2022-23 season, which always complicates buyout discussions. If he does hit the open market, plenty of teams will be interested in signing him.
The team that could jump to the front of that list is the Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers parted ways with backup center Andre Drummond as part of the deal to acquire James Harden. They now have very little depth beyond Embiid and Favors would be an excellent addition should be become available.

Favors isn’t going to blow you away with eye-popping numbers, but he gets the job done. Doc Rivers would be comfortable playing him 15-20 minutes per game off the bench as he is a good defender, strong rebounder, and efficient offensively.
