Atlanta Hawks
It’s not easy to breakthrough either conference to make it to the NBA Finals. The Atlanta Hawks experienced that firsthand when they came up short in the Eastern Conference Finals at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks.
A key area where the Hawks have struggled this season has been their overall execution on defense. Atlanta is naturally going to be at a disadvantage with Trae Young on the floor having to cover up his shortcomings on that end. Bradley Beal would not help in that regard but could be part of a larger shake up.
The Hawks do not have the necessary complementary pieces to surround Young to win at a high-level at this point. Atlanta could be better served consolidating some of those players or assets to land a difference-making co-star like Beal to lay a strong foundation.
While defense may be a concern, not having a dynamic enough co-star is another issue the Hawks currently face. Beal would bring a real boost in that regard.

After pairing up Young and Beal, the Hawks would need to then find cohesive talents that can bring a competitive edge on defense. If they could get to an average level of defensive impact, they’d have something intriguing.
