Shooting and perimeter scoring has been such a huge part of how championship teams have been built over the years in the NBA, but the Nets could find a lot of success going “old school” and just outmuscling their opponents in the paint.

Andre Drummond can score and rebound in the paint, Ben Simmons can score and rebound in the paint, LaMarcus Aldridge can score and rebound in the paint and then the Nets still have Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving , Seth Curry and Patty Mills as versatile scoring options outside.

Becoming one of the better paint scoring teams and one of the better second-chance opportunity teams in the entire NBA could immediately hoist the Brooklyn Nets back up to the top of the Eastern Conference standings.

They may have only won six games since the new year, but the Nets are currently just 3 games back from sixth-place in the Eastern Conference.

Closing the gap between themselves and the Heat, who are 7.5 games up on the Nets for first-place in the East could be tough, but Brooklyn definitely has a chance to catch up to the Celtics, 76ers and Cavaliers in the standings to avoid having to play in the play-in tournament.

Say what you want about the Brooklyn Nets right now, but do so with caution because this team still has what it takes to win a title. If Kevin Durant can come back from his MCL sprain in the near future and Ben Simmons can fit in being a primary defender and elite rebounder, then this team will have everything they need to compete for a title this season.

Do not count out the Brooklyn Nets from reaching the NBA Finals this season.
