Are There Concerns With Ben Simmons?

Once 23-9 and near the top of the Eastern Conference standings, the Nets have dropped 11 straight games and have fallen to 29-27, 8th place in the Eastern Conference. With Kevin Durant out due to an MCL injury and all the drama surrounding the Harden trade leading up to the trade deadline, there has been no consistency on this Nets’ roster over the last month or so, leading to their long losing streak. 

No team in NBA history has gone on to win the NBA Finals after having a losing streak of 6 games or more, so if there is any time to hit the “panic” button in Brooklyn it is now. 

However, moving James Harden was not all bad for the Nets, as they added a ton of much-needed depth in this trade with the 76ers. Not only do they get a double-double machine and a former All-Star in Andre Drummond at center, but they add one of the best three-point shooters in the league in Seth Curry and most notably, All-Star Ben Simmons.

Now, say what you want about Ben Simmons not being able to shoot and giving up a wide-open layup for the 76ers in the playoffs last season that could have resulted in them advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals, but Simmons is a very talented player.

There are definitely mental concerns with Ben Simmons and questions about how ready he is to play this season given that he has not played in a game since last season’s playoffs, but he could really be the saving grace of this Nets’ franchise.
