How This Deal Impacts Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers are serious about rebuilding and retooling this roster. The first domino fell when Caris LeVert was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers but you can be sure that won’t be the last trade they complete.
They have plenty of other players that could be on the move, including Justin Holiday, who is being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in this deal. Indiana is reportedly seeking multiple second-round picks in exchange for the 3-and-D wing and they get what they are asking for from the Lakers.
This deal is all about the draft capital that is coming back. Indiana gets two more future second-round picks, which are a lot more valuable than people realize. Rotation players are regularly popping up around the league that were second-round picks and they help sweeten trade packages as well.
The Pacers, who are always operating on a budget, save $6.3 million more in salary cap space heading into the summer after this deal as well. Both Kent Bazemore and DeAndre Jordan are on expiring contracts for the veteran’s minimum.

There is a good chance that both players are bought out should they be acquired. Indiana has no real use for two more veteran players as they are looking to open up minutes for some of their younger players for the rest of the season.
