Does this trade make sense for the Houston Rockets?
At this point in the season, the Houston Rockets have received numerous trade calls pertaining to Eric Gordon and they have not dealt him yet. It is possible that they could wind up trading him before Thursday, but they really do not have a reason to want to get rid of Eric Gordon right now.
Not only is he a key veteran on this roster that is actually contributing, but if the right deal is not presented for him, they can simply wait until the offseason or next year’s trade deadline to try and get exactly what they want for him!
Of course, they run the risk of his value decreasing, but Eric Gordon is definitely worth a lot more than a backup center and a 2025 first-round pick. Josh Green could bring some value to the Rockets, however, they already have Josh Christopher and Jae’Sean Tate on the wing.
It is really hard to see where the Rockets get value from this trade unless the Dallas Mavericks’ pick in 2025 winds up being the 6th overall selection!

The Houston Rockets have always been enemies of the Dallas Mavericks and the Rockets are not going to be willing to do the Mavs a “solid” at the trade deadline by accepting less for Eric Gordon. If Dallas wants Gordon, they are going to have to pay up for him and Houston is not budging on that right now.
