The Washington Wizards started the season hot, as they were one of the best teams in the NBA in the early going. However, that Cinderella start was not sustained as they have fallen back to Earth with a thud.
Not many people felt the Wizards’ start was legitimate, but they figured they would challenge for a spot in the NBA Play-In Tournament. However, they have an eye toward the future as they could lose superstar Bradley Beal this offseason in free agency.
To avoid that happening, the Wizards have to make a move ahead of the NBA trade deadline. They are only one game out of the Play-In Tournament and five behind the sixth-place Brooklyn Nets, so it is certainly within reach to make the postseason. But, to achieve that goal, the roster needs a shake-up.
Spencer Dinwiddie is one player that the team is looking to move on from and someone they could inquire about obtaining is Domantas Sabonis of the Indiana Pacers. Sabonis is someone that Beal is reportedly interested in teaming up with, but he is not pushing for a deal to get done.

Beal has not indicated that he wants to leave or wants to stay. The Wizards have to show they can build a competitive roster around him and the trade deadline is their last chance to do so.
