Would this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?
The Indiana Pacers are a team that got used to the postseason in the Eastern Conference. It has changed over the years as they have missed our time in the playoffs. This is because of the transition the team has taken and it includes a roster that is built in a strange way.
This means that the front office can be looking to shake things up. Indiana has a front office that is used to making smart moves and could be looking for a big one here.
Gordon Hayward is signed through the 2023-24 season—meaning he has two additional years remaining. The Pacers would need to feature him in a prominent role in their offense for him to meet his value, which should not be an issue given the roster.
Domantas Sabonis thrived in the two-man game with Doug McDermott but he departed in free agency to join the San Antonio Spurs. Adding Hayward, who is a real catch-and-shoot threat and savvy cutter, could form a real one-two punch with Sabonis once again.
