The Denver Nuggets are a team on the cusp of being legitimate title contenders. They have the reigning MVP in Nikola Jokic as their centerpiece and have some great pieces around him. But, if they want to take that next step, they could use an upgrade.

Denver, when healthy, has a deep, talented team. They are without Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. yet are right in the thick of the playoff race in the Western Conference. A lot of credit should be given to players such as Will Barton and Aaron Gordon who have stepped up in their absence.

But, to become legitimate contenders, the Nuggets need another All-Star to go along with Jokic. It would likely require one of Murray or Porter to get a deal done, but it is something they should seriously consider.

If the Denver Nuggets added Beal as Jokic’s co-star, they would be a dangerous team and among the favorites to take home the Larry O’Brien Trophy. Beal is likely looking for teams that can compensate him well but also get him closer to winning, something he hasn’t experienced much lately with the Washington Wizards.

The Denver Nuggets would present him with that chance. To hang with the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors, Denver needs a little more juice and Beal would provide it.
