It really was not too much of a shock to see the Milwaukee Bucks hoist the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy into the air after winning the NBA Finals last season, as they were one of the most dominant teams in the league from start to finish.

This year however, they have their work cut out for them if they are to defend their title not only because of their own internal struggles, but because of how good the Eastern Conference is compared to the last few seasons.

Just 5.5 games separate the 1-seed from the 9-seed in the conference and right now, the Eastern Conference is up for grabs.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has continued to be a top MVP pick for many this season and Milwaukee seems to have more depth than they had a season ago, but something still seems off about this team.

The Bucks have scored at least 120 points in a game 15 different times this season, the third-most in the league, and their defense is not the problem either, so what are we looking at with the Milwaukee Bucks this season?

The key issue with Milwaukee right now lies in their frontcourt, as big man Brook Lopez has not played since the opening game of the year after undergoing back surgery. Bobby Portis has stepped up in his absence and has been great this season, but the Bucks could greatly benefit from adding some more big man depth, especially so Giannis Antetokounmpo does not have to put more weight of this franchise on his back.

The big man market is small leading up to the trade deadline this season, but Christian Wood is a familiar name for Bucks’ fans and he could absolutely help them defend their title.

Wood is in the second season of a three-year, $41M deal with the Houston Rockets and now finds himself as a key name on the trade block. Houston has no intentions of trading Christian Wood for whatever they can get, but they do have interest in possibly trading him given that he is set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2023.

Christian Wood spent a handful of games with the Bucks during the 2018-19 season, so could they look to bring him back to fill a need in their frontcourt? Here is what a trade between the Houston Rockets and Milwaukee Bucks could look like involving Wood.
