Does this trade make sense for the Houston Rockets?
Should the right deal come their way, the Houston Rockets are open to moving Christian Wood at the trade deadline. However, this trade really does nothing to help them now or in the future.
A 2022 second-round pick is not terrible since it would be an immediate draft pick, but this pick will most likely be anywhere from 50-60 near the end of the draft. Brook Lopez brings zero value to the Rockets and Semi Ojeleye is nothing more than a salary filler in this trade.
Donte DiVincenzo really is the only valuable asset the Rockets would be getting back in this trade and he is not close to being on the same level as Christian Wood’s value.
This trade makes little to no sense for the Rockets to make, especially given the amount of interest they have received over the last few weeks in Christian Wood.

If they want to trade him, the Houston Rockets can absolutely get at least one first-round pick and a young talent from another team for Wood this season. Ultimately though, it seems likely that Houston will hold onto their big man through the trade deadline and possibly look to move him at or near the 2022 NBA Draft.
