Would this trade make sense for the Houston Rockets?
Just like this deal would make sense for the Los Angeles Lakers because of their path, the same can be said about the Houston Rockets.
The Rockets finished with the worst record in the league last season and will be near the bottom once again. This means a veteran shooting guard does not serve that much purpose for the future.
Eric Gordon has done plenty of good things during his time in Houston, but allowing him to get to a contender using a trade appears to be the most mutually beneficial outcome. He has been an anchor on both ends for the Rockets but as of now, he does not fit into the plan.
Talen Horton-Tucker has been a prized prospect since coming into the league. The Lakers liked him from the start and that is the reason they were given a three-year extension in the offseason. He would fit well next to Green in the rotation and give the Rockets some core to build around.

This is the plan for the front office, along with sending away veterans. Gordon could be first on the list and if they are able to get draft picks or another young player return, the deal seems like a no-brainer.
