With just over a week until the NBA trade deadline, we are finally beginning to see some separation between which teams could be buyers and sellers. One team that could toe both lines is the LA Clippers.
The Clippers have done a great job staying afloat this season, as Kawhi Leonard has not appeared in a game yet as he recovers from knee surgery. Losing one star player is tough enough, but the Clippers have also been without their second star, Paul George, for more than a month.
Despite not having their All-Star duo, LA is 26-27 on the season and in eighth place in the Western Conference. They are only five games behind the Utah Jazz for fourth place, so they could make a move to improve their standing this season.
With their draft pick being conveyed to the Oklahoma City Thunder, they won’t benefit from shutting things down and racking up losses. But, at the same time, they have to be realistic about their expectations.

Without Leonard and George, it will be difficult to contend this season. But, if the opportunity presents itself to improve in the short and long term, they have to seriously consider it. Could someone such as Domantas Sabonis be a worthwhile target?
Let’s take a look at this hypothetical deal put together recently over at Bleacher Report that lands Sabonis in Los Angeles.
